Thikagiki Farmers Cooperative

Farmers delivering to Thikagiki washing station cultivate primarily grow varieties such as SL28, Batian, and Ruiru 11 on small farms averaging no more than 0.8 hectares and located at an altitude of 1680 masl.

Most of Kenya’s coffee is grown by small farmers, who own less than 2 hectares and represent 99% of the coffee-growing population. These farmers are organized into hundreds of cooperatives and have their own wet mills, where they deliver the cherries and process most of the washed coffee.
