About the founders
Kolibri was founded in 2020 in the Netherlands by Stephany Marmolejo and Darius Karremans, inspired by a shared passion for coffee and the meaningful moments it creates between people.
What began in our apartment with a small coffee production owned by Darius’s family soon grew organically from a personal hobby into one of the most recognized coffee roasteries in the north of the Netherlands. Today, Kolibri coffees are enjoyed in cafés and homes across the EU, while our philosophy remains unchanged.

Behind every coffee we source is a relationship built on trust, care, and shared values. We believe great coffee begins long before roasting — at origin, with the people who dedicate their lives to growing it.
That is why we work closely with farmers and trusted importers who share our commitment to sustainability, transparency, and quality. By sourcing coffees with intention around the world, we aim to support responsible practices while honoring the story, craftsmanship, and effort behind every cup.
Thoughtful Roasting
Our roasting process is based on the seasonality of each origin, ensuring freshness while enhancing quality and complexity in the most flavourful way.
We use Stronghold, the world’s only 100% electric coffee roaster and the first smart coffee roaster. Its revolutionary design, featuring an exclusive three-way heating system and innovative smart technology, allows us to precisely replicate each roast profile automatically.
